This is expected behavior at this point since Chrome and Edge do not share cookie space with the libraries used to authenticate through Smart View where the original login occurred. The extra log in step is not necessary in Internet Explorer because IE shares cookie space with the libraries used by Smart View. This behavior is described in the last note on the documentation page linked to below.
