Symptoms

When opening Shared Services login page following error message appears:<hss-machine> 'Database is not configured properly'.

The SharedService_Security.log file may contain entries similar to the one below :

testConection -- sql exc:
java.sql.SQLException: [Hyperion][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-28001: the password has expired

Cause

The password for the database user for Shared Services repository has expired

Solution


After resetting expired password for the database user you need to re-configure Shared Services using Configuration Utility.
  1. Launch Hyperion Configuration Utility.
  2. Select language and click Next.
  3. Continue through Welcome page.
  4. Select the Hyperion Shared Services product, choose only "Configure Database" task and then click Next.
  5. Select the database version and continue.
  6. Enter new database user credentials.
  7. After finishing configuration restart Shared Services.
