Consolidation Methods Dimension has Been Cleared in EPMA Type Consolidation Application After Application Was Deployed To HFM

  Modified 26-APR-2010

Applies to:

Hyperion Financial Management - Version: 9.3.1.0.00 to 11.1.1.0.00 - Release: 9.3 to 11.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After deploying a Consolidation application from EPMA to the HFM product, the Consolidation Methods are missing from the target HFM application.   An Extract Metadata of the application in HFM shows no consolidation methods exist any more in the HFM application, and the Manage Ownership functions or rules relying on the methods no longer work correctly.

Cause

The cause of the problem is a bug in HFM 9.3.1.0 that causes consolidation methods to be dropped when a metadata file is loaded in replace mode that does not contain consolidation methods.    This can happen sometimes when EPMA re-deploys a Consolidation application to EPMA.

@ The unpublished bug number for this issue is bug 6748431.

Solution

All HFM 9.3.1 customers should have installed by now at least Service Pack 4 patch:8529783 to their HFM application servers and HFM web servers.

A prerequisite of installing this patch is to also install Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3.   This particular issue was solved by a code change included in Service Pack 1.  Therefore the solution is to make sure that Service Pack 4 has been applied to all application and web servers.

All customers are encouraged to regularly check the "Patches and Updates" tab in My Oracle Support for the latest available Service Pack for their HFM version.
