Symptoms
When trying to view Ledgerlink error file, An error "HPPLINK.ERR could not be found" is given.
Issue occurs after data has been loaded and errors generated while trying to view the LedgerLink error file thus produced.
Cause
When the error log is viewed in Ledgerlink, the program uses the Windows file Association with the file type .ERR to open a suitable editor to display the file.
If this association is not to a text editor, an error can be generated.
Solution
In order to open the HPLINK.ERR file, Oracle Hyperion Ledgerlink requires a suitable text editor to be associated with the .ERR file extension.
To achieve this perform the following steps.
1. Run Windows Explorer.
2. Browse to the Application\ Inbox folder for one of the applications in use.
3. Locate the HPLINK.ERR file.
4. Right mouse click on the file.
5. Select OPEN WITH.
6. Select CHOOSE PROGRAM.
7. Select ALWAYS USE THE SELECTED PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS KIND OF FILE...
8. Browse for your preferred text editor. (Notepad or WordPad work well.)
9. Select OK.
Test the association by double clicking on the HPLINK.ERR in Windows Explorer file and ensuring the editor associated with the .ERR file extension opens the file.
Once Windows has associated a suitable program with the file type, when the error log is viewed from the Ledgerlink POP up box, the editor will open the file..
Note: These steps will need to be taken on all machines where Legderlink is RUN including Citrix/Windows Terminal Servers if used.
