When upgrading to 11.1.2.4 the Journal Template Window would not open.
The ADF_FACES:60097 error message would display and the user(s) would have to log out.
The cause of this issue is due to the new feature in 11.1.2.4 for Journal Templates. The new feature is that the templates display the parent entity against the base entity that is being used.
When the templates have been migrated the Parent column is blank thus displaying an error and preventing users access.
Solution:
1. Open the template
2. Click Save and close
Doing this will automatically populate the "Parent" column and resolve the issue.
NOTE:
After correcting the "Parent" Column some times the error will persist for some users. This is because the error can also corrupt their user session. In order to resolve this simply follow the Solution to clear user sessions. The details are on a separate knowledge article.
