Tips for deleting entity in HFM

Possible methods and potential implications of renaming an entity.

Parent Entities

- Check if you post journals
- Check if you input data at parent level
- History will be cleared and hence consolidations need to be run for all periods and years
- If there have been rule changes over the years there may be a difference in the numbers after reconsolidation

Base Entities

- Best to rename descriptions as this will keep the data intact
- If entity has to be renamed then below methods are available
- extract all data, update the entity label, load data back. In this case you will have to revalidate all your data
- create a new entity with new label, move all data, validate and then delete old entity
- convert HFM app to EPMA, update labels and convert back to classic, no impact on data

- for all the above methods ensure to check if journals are posted and unpost them and repost with new entity name
