Hyperion Smart Tags are Not Available In Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

Symptoms

The option Hyperion Smart Tags - Hyperion (Hyperion Smart View recognizer ) is not available in Excel, Word or Powerpoint under the menu Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Smart Tags tab.

Cause

The HyperionSmartTag.dll file may not have been registered when installing Smart View.  Hence, the option Hyperion Smart Tags - Hyperion (Hyperion Smart View recognizer ) is not available in Excel, Word or Powerpoint under the Smart Tags tab.

Solution

<space>When the Hyeprion Smart Tags are not available in Word, Excel or Powerpoint, register the HyperionSmartTag.dll by following the below steps.

1. Close all Excel workbooks. 
2. Go to Start > Run
3. Type Regsvr32 and then drag and drop the HyperionSmartTag.dll file from the location ~\Hyperion_home\SmartView\Bin to insert the dll with its path after the command.


If there are no spaces in the directory name, you will not need the double quotes.

If done successfully, a box will display with the following message:

DllRegisterServer in C:\Hyperion\SmartView\Bin\HyperionSmartTag.dll succeeded.

If that message is not displayed, then you will need to contact your desktop support team to determine if you have the rights to register a dll on the machine.

Do NOT move the HyperionSmartTag.dll from its installed directory to the user's profile.  This will break Smart View Upgrades.
