Goal
How can we migrate Business Rules from one Classic Planning environment to another when using Calculation Manager to manage them? The rules are not showing up in the destination environment Calculation Manager.Solution
Planning 11.1.1.3 introduced the option to use Calculation Manager to manage Business Rules for classic Planning applications. However, there is no way to migrate the rules from one environment to another using LifeCycle Management (LCM) in such a way that the rules are manageable in the target environment Calculation Manager.Because the Planning application is Classic, it is not listed under the "Foundation" node in Shared Services. Rules can therefore only be selected for migration using LCM from the Planning application node in Shared Services. When the export LCM files are imported on the target environment, the Business Rules are correctly copied into the target Planning application's relational database.
The rules are then available in the target Planning application, users can be assigned access, and they can be launched. However, they are not available in the target environment Calculation Manager, and there is no way to administer the rules. There is no way to "reverse deploy" the rules from the Planning application back into Calculation Manager.
To work around this issue the Business Rules can be exported from within the source environment Calculation Manager (File > Export). The exported XML file can then be imported in the target Calculation Manager and the rules deployed to the desired Planning application.
