Symptoms

Get Error: Cannot open cube view. Analytic server error(1051544) unknown error: Not a Valid entry when logging into the Excel Add-In.

After selecting the application, get error:

Message on contacting or application (appname) Server:Error(10200315) Error Parsing Formula for [Region Definition] (line 1): Invalid Object Type

Cause


This issue was caused by not doing a complete security refresh from Planning Web.  id not perform complete security refresh.

 

Note: The non-admin status refers to the Shared Services user IDs that are not set to admin. Admin Planning users, have access to all members in all dimensions, access to all forms, and have accounts set to admin through Shared Services. Using the admin ID on the admin user machine, you can make a connection using Smart View and Excel Add-In. Using an ID that is not set to admin connecting to the same admin user machine, you will get the error message in Smart View and Excel Add-In. 

Solution

Run security refresh from Planning and recycle all the services.

1. Log into Planning Web.
2. Navigate to Administration>Manage Database
3. Select the checkbox for Security Refresh and select Refresh.
