SYMPTOMS

In an EPM 11.1.2.4 environment, some but not all of the customer's client workstations are having trouble accessing the web-based version of the Essbase Administrative Services (EAS) Console. They receive an on-screen error message of "Could not connect to Administration Server".

Customer noted the following:

1. A number of versions of Java are being used on the client workstations..... for each version being used, customer has workstations that experience the problem as well as workstations that do not experience the problem. And so the Java version on the client workstation was ruled out as being the cause of the problem-

2. Customer's EPM environment does not use a load balancer-

3. Customer's end users use an https:// URL to access the EAS console.

CHANGES

CAUSE

Java is not configured correctly on some of the client workstations

SOLUTION

On the client workstations experiencing the issue... Access the Java Control Panel and under the Advanced Tab ->Advanced Security Settings make certain that:
  a. TLS 1.1 is unchecked
  b. TLS 1.2 is unchecked
  c. SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format is unchecked
