Why do Changes in Account Hierarchies Impacts Data on Locked Entities

Modified 15-JUL-2010

Applies to:

Hyperion Financial Management - Version: 1.0.0.0.00 to 11.1.2.0.00 - Release: 1.0 to 11.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When entities are locked and child members in the account dimension are moved to a different parent account, the values are changed despite the data being locked.

Cause

This behavior is as designed.

Solution

A parent account is not stored in the database, but rather it is calculated “on the fly”. When a base account is moved from a parent account to another, the parent account is automatically recalculated for both base entities and parent entities. It does not matter if the entity, base or parent,  is locked. Since a parent account is not stored, it also cannot be locked.
