Hyperion Financial Management - Version: 11.1.1.0.00 to 11.1.1.2.00 - Release: 11.1 to 11.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

HFM 11.1.1.1 Desktop Client crashes with error:
An unhandled win32 exception occured in HFM.exe [8120]

Changes

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Studio 2008 has been installed on the same machine as HFM Desktop Client.

Cause

Recently installed application (i.e. Microsoft SQL Server 2008) updated  Mfc80.dll module or the Mfc80u.dll module used by HFM from version 8.0.50727.870 to version 8.0.50727.3078.
Now when you run HFM Desktop Client, an access violation occurs in the Mfc80.dll module or in the Mfc80u.dll module and the Client crashes.

Solution

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products and service fix is provided in Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
'FIX: An application that uses the Mfc80.dll module or the Mfc80u.dll module crashes after you install a product that updates the module version'
