Run-time-prompt Screen Incomplete (No Submit Button) When User Variables Exist in Hyperion Planning [ID 859403.1]

Symptoms

It is not possible to select a value for a run-time-prompt variable in Hyperion Planning if both User and Global Variables are available to the application.

Having created a business rule which uses a run-time-prompt variable, when the rule is launched in Planning it is not possible to select a member for this variable as the right-hand side of the member selector screen is blank and there is no submit button. This problem occurs after creating User Variables in the Planning application.

Cause

At this point in time this has been raised as unconfirmed Bug 8598901 NO SUBMIT BUTTON IN MEMBER SELECTION SCREEN WHEN ACCESSED FROM RUN-TIME-PROMPT.

Solution

The following workaround can be used to prevent this issue:

In Planning, select Administration, Application Settings and set the option 
'Enable the Display of Substitution Variables' to 'Display None'.

With this set the member selector screen will display correctly and it will be possible to select the required dimension member from the list. It will not be possible however to see any user or global variables.
