SYMPTOMS

In Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) 11.1.2.1 loading metadata into an application fails intermittently and the following error message is displayed:

Unexpected Error : 80004005 occurred.

At the same time in HFM log file HsvEventlog.log the following error message can be found:

Rowset position cannot be restarted.

CAUSE

This issue has been identified as a software defect and it has been logged as bug 13559985.

SOLUTION

To resolve this issue download and apply Patch 13866783 Hyperion Financial Management Patch Set Update 11.1.2.1.104. Detailed installation instructions are included in the readme file, provided with the patch.

Workaround: terminate the HFM related Windows processes (HSvDataSource.exe,HsxServer.exe and CasSecurity.exe) and then load the metadata file again.
